Boys basketball teams played a tough game against Caravel last night. Playing a tough defensive game each team really worked together on the court to hold back Caravel's offence. Ethan M. was our leading scorer for the A team with baskets by Simon K. and Sydnee O. but good defense was played by all. Conner M. was our leading scorer for the B team with baskets by Joe M. Bryson R and Kayson C. Overall, well played games by both teams.

Yesterday the Milford Chess Team was hosted by Caravel Middle School for our second meet of the season. Caravel were tough opponents, but the Milford Chess Team is starting to see some gains, pushing the final score to Milford - 21, Caravel - 39.

Some highlights from the meet:
Braydon M. once again led the team, winning 3 out of 4 of his games
Both Derick R. and Sophie G. had strong showings, earning the team 2 wins each
Owen D. fought the good fight, taking his round 4 game to the timer. He tired his opponent out and showed great resilience in the face of adversity

The hard work put in by our Chess Team players is really starting to shine through! As the team works hard to make gains and build up our chess skills we plan on taking even more games in our next meet. Keep up the good work, team!

The girls’ basketball teams hosted Caravel Middle School last night. The A Team held their own in the first quarter, putting up strong defense that limited Caravel’s scoring opportunities. They continued to battle hard against a tough opponent, but ultimately came up short despite their effort. Scoring for the A Team came from Kylie, Paisley, and Ava.

The B Team faced some defensive challenges early on but found their rhythm as the game went on, staying tight on their person they were guarding. Although they showed remarkable improvement from their first game, the B Team also fell to Caravel. Emma, Mackenzie, and Paisley contributed baskets for the B Team.

Yesterday afternoon the Milford Chess Team hosted Holbrook Middle School in our first meet of the season. Holbrook came out swinging, and put up some stiff competition against our hometown heroes. Unfortunately, the efforts of the Milford Chess Team were not quite enough to close out a victory, with the final score being Milford - 15, Holbrook - 45.

Some highlights from the meet:
Braydon M. had the highest overall score with a total of 6/10 possible points
Alec M. had a rough start to the meet in round 1, but managed to pull back only letting Holbrook take one more game from him
Owen D. managed to deny Holbrook the victory in two of his games, forcing ties and breaking their momentum.

Overall, the Milford Chess Team showed great perseverance in the face of an incredibly tough opponent, and we’re looking forward to taking some lessons from this loss to come back with an even stronger showing at the next one. Keep up the good work, team!

Our girls' basketball players traveled to Holbrook last night. Despite both teams having a tough start to their games, they both came out fighting stronger in the second halves. Paisley M. was the top scorer for the A team with 14 points, and some strong defense was played by Ava F. Baskets were made by Paige K. and Abby Q. for the B team. Our girls played hard the entire game and showed some great sportsmanship.
