Safety Update 3/19/26

3/19/2026

Parents/Guardians,

The Dr. Lewis S. Libby School received a threat by phone this morning that was later determined to be a hoax. We immediately moved to evacuate the school and worked with Sunset Transportation and the Old Town YMCA to transport our students and staff to that location. Staff worked together to make sure students were reunified quickly with their parents/guardians. I would like to thank everyone involved for their understanding and assistance.

The Sheriff Department/ Regional Dispatch came to our building, conducted a search, and later determined that there was no credible threat.  This threat is consistent with “swatting” threats that have been made around the country. It was a hoax, however, because we do not have local law enforcement regularly and cannot anticipate response times, it was of great importance to implement our safety plan and take the safety of staff and students seriously.

Thank you to the regional Sheriff’s Department, our staff, the students, Sunset Transportation and the Old Town YMCA, for your supportive response in ensuring safety for everyone.

Sincerely,

Trish Clark

Superintendent
