Game Scores and Highlights:

11/30/2010 - Game #1: Milford @ Glenburn

Game Score: Milford 55 Glenburn 48

The Boys “A” Milford Wildcats won a hard fought Basketball game, coming away with a 55 to 48 victory over Glenburn. Andre Miller and Tyler Gifford combined for 44 points, with Mitchell Cole, Kareem Stokes and Zach Libby rounding it out with 11 points of their own. Even though the bulk of the scoring came from the guards, It was credited to great team defense. The wildcats created turnovers off of their full court pressure defense, giving them good scoring opportunities, which ultimately was the difference in the Game. Great Team Effort Guys! It should also be mentioned , that the Wildcats had some Really Great support from the Parents and Students. A Big Team Thanks to You!

12/2/2010 - Game #2: Milford @ Holbrook

Game Score: Holbrook 57 Milford 27

The Milford Wildcats suffered a disappointing loss against an exceptional Holbrook Team, at their home court, 27 to 57. Holbrook pressed the Wildcats with a 2-2-1 full court press. The team had not been introduced to that kind of press. The Milford Wildcats began to make adjustments throughout the game and had glimpses off success in combating the 2-2-1.All and all the players understand that even though they had lost the game, they had become a stronger team by learning from the mistakes. I am very proud of how the players held their heads up and represented their school well, with a show of good sportsmanship. The very next day at practice the team started working on breaking a 2-2-1 press as well as using it. The team feels confident In being ready for what ever Holbrook brings at there next meeting. Keep your Heads up Guys, You're doing a Great Job!

12/9/2010 - Game #3: Orrington @ Milford

Game Score: Milford 50 Orrington 46

The Milford Wildcats bounced back from a tough game against Holbrook with a win at Home against Orrington 50 to 46. The wildcats scored some easy baskets by quickly pushing the ball up the floor especially after a score by Orrington , they also got a fair amount from the perimeter while attacking their 2-3 zone. Tyler Gifford and Zach Libby had stellar shooting games. Tyler Gifford made three, 3 point shots to open up their zone for a total of 15. Zach Libby worked hard under the basket to also add 15 points of his own. Andre Miller continued to be consistent on offense and scored 9. Kareem Stokes scored 6 and Mitch Cole scored 5. Jordan Harris, Tyler Brown Alex Hinkley and Rickey Doane continue to work very hard for us by playing tough defense and creating opportunities for themselves as well as their team mates. From a coaches perspective, I think this Team is just scratching the surface. I see us doing very well in most areas But I know they are capable of doing even more. Keep Working Hard Guys , Give It Your 110% and the sky is the limit.

12/16/2010 - Game #4: Caravel @ Milford

Game Score: Caravel 72 Milford 40

The Milford Wildcats lost 72 to 40 against a tough Caravel Team. Milford was Missing two of their starters but played well thoughout the first Half, keeping the score within single digits. Caravel came out in the third quarter, to out score Milford 23 to 5. Kareem Stokes Scored 14, playing very well in the post. Mitch Cole moved to Guard and scored 11 from the perimeter, with three shots coming from beyond the arc. Zach Libby worked hard to score 6 and Tyler Brown played Impressively scoring 5 of his own. From a coaches perspective we didn’t have that dynamic, we weren’t quite the same team, missing those two players and we didn’t protect our basket very well in the second Half. The positive side is that I felt we fundamentally were able to establish good post up position and the post players were effectively scoring (another part of the puzzle!). Put this altogether Guys and well have something and don’t forget, Keep A Positive Attitude!

12/21/2010 - Game #5: Winterport @ Milford

Game Score: Winterport 55 Milford 34

The Milford Wildcats had a disappointing loss to the Winterport Clippers with a final score of 55-34. Tyler Gifford scored four points, Andre Miller scored 7 points, Mitchell Cole scored 8 points, Zach Libby scored 5 points, and Tyler Brown scored 8 points. From a coaches perspective the team needs to come ready to play all four quarters of basketball and to have a positive outlook. On the positive side the team did well breaking their press and scored effectively against their two three zone. The team is still learning and growing from their mistakes as they play more games. I want the players to focus on themselves as well as the team and set personal goals to achieve . Don’t let a loss get you down, and keep up the good effort guys.

1/4/2011 - Game #6: Holbrook @ Milford

Game Score: Holbrook 45 Milford 28

The Wildcats lost 28 to 45 against a tough Holbrook team. It was there second loss against the 1st place team. Jordan Harris and Mitch Cole both scored 7 points each, Zach Libby scored 6, Kareem Stokes scored 4, Tyler Gifford Scored 3 and Ricky Doane scored 1. From a coaches prospective, The Team Improved immensely from there last meeting , cutting there deficit nearly in half and doing it down a player, André Miller. The Wildcats struggled with Holbrook’s 2-2-1 press in there first game, but this time around, had no trouble breaking their press, with confidence. Milford also improved in attacking their 1-3-1 zone. The players continue to make strides and are gaining on becoming a fundamentally well rounded team. I think the Team has built a confidence in handling any defensive strategy an opponent may show them and now can play more relaxed and therefore start contributing more of their athletic abilities to a potential, I know they possess, and when ready, I believe will compete to win at a higher level. Keep taking those strides forward Guys!

1/6/2011 - Game #7: Milford @ Orono

Game Score: Milford 42 Orono 18

The Milford Wildcats jumped back from a tough loss against Holbrook to defeat Orono, at their home court 42 to 18. The Wildcats Tyler Gifford led the way on offense scoring four three pointers, for a game high 16. Kareem Stokes scored 6, Andre Miller, Mitch Cole and Tyler Brown each scored 4, Zach Libby scored 5 and Jordan Harris scored 3. From a Coaches perspective, I think the team displayed their defensive capabilities. I was happy to see the Team execute their trapping defenses, by rotating properly in certain situations. The Team also capitalized with their full court pressure and for the first time, trapping effectively with there 1-2-2 half court zone. That was a fun win, not only because we won but because we won playing smart defensively. Keep pushing forward Team and don’t just settle for good enough!

1/11/2011 - Game #8: Milford @ Hermon

Game Score: Hermon 65 Milford 27

The Milford Wildcats lost to the Hermon Hawks 65 to 27. Mitch Cole scored 13, Tyler Gifford scored 8 and Kareem Stokes, Jordan Harris and Andre Miller each scored 2. The Wildcats need to learn, that they can challenge teams such as Hermon. They just need to believe, as I do, that their capable of fighting back against a team that plays aggressively, by stepping up and increasing their own level of intensity and by being confident and coming to play with the drive and the mind set to win. Don’t let the loss get you down guys, just learn from it and look forward to improving in your next game!

1/13/2011 - Game #9: Glenburn @ Milford

Game Score: Milford 59 Glenburn 52

The Milford Wildcats defeated Glenburn 59 to 52. Tyler Gifford led the way for Milford scoring 18 points, Mitch Cole scored 16, Andre Miller scored 12, Zach Libby scored 11 and Tyler Brown scored 2. The Wildcats had trouble stopping Glenburn’s forwards throughout the first half. Milford came out in the second half and played an effective two three half court zone and also did a wonderful job creating turnovers with their two two one full court press. Nice Job Guys, Way to Bounce Back!

1/20/2011 - Game #10: Milford @ Orrington

Game Score: Milford 59 Orrington 39

The Milford Wildcats defeated Orrington 59 to 39. Andre Miller led the Wildcats with 19 points, Tyler Gifford scored 12, Zach Libby scored 11, Kareem Stokes scored 6, Tyler Brown Scored 4, Jordan Harris scored 3 and Jacob Barnaby and Mitch Cole each scored 2. The Wildcats set the Pace at the start of the game and continued to press their opponents with greater efficiency each time they step on the floor. The Team pushed the ball in transition, while filling the lanes nicely for easy lay ups and also looked to make the extra pass to their open team mates which seemed to become even more apparent as the game continued. Great Team Work Guys!

1/25/2011 - Game #11: Milford @ Bangor Christian

Game Score: Milford 42 Bangor Christian 13

The Wildcats ended the regular season with a 42 to 13 win over Bangor Christian. Andre Miller and Zach Libby combined to score 11 points each. Jacob Barnaby scored 7, Tyler Gifford Scored 5 and Tyler Brown and Kareem Stokes each scored 4. As for me, the coach, I’m glad to see Ricky Doane and Alex Hinkley get their chances at the hoop, I could see them building more and more confidence throughout the course of the game, It was certainly a fun game to watch, Great Job Guys! I would also like to sincerely thank the Faculty, Parents, Fans, Students and Players for a memorable regular season. As for the Team, It’s Not Over Yet Guys! Lets continue to stay Focused, Improve as a Team and Raise that Level of Intensity for the Play-offs!

2/5/2011 - Game #12: Milford vs. Orrington in Quarterfinals of PVML Tournament

Game Score: Milford 52 Orrington 42

The Milford Wildcats defeated Orrington in a Quarterfinal Playoff Game 52 to 42. Tyler Gifford and Andre Miller each scored 11 points, Zach Libby and Mitch Cole each scored 8 points, Kareem Stokes scored 6 points, Jacob Barnaby scored 4 points and Jordan Harris and Tyler Brown each scored 2 points. From a coaches perspective, In the first half, I’d say our Team didn’t rotate quickly enough in our 1-2-2 half court zone and this allowed Orrington to get open shots. We also didn’t execute our 2-2-1 full court press to the degree at which we a capable, and this allowed Orrington to get easy shots, which helped them take a 3 point lead at the end of the second quarter. In the locker room the Team talked about how they didn’t want there season to end, how they felt that they were the better Team and that they shouldn’t be losing the Game. It was nice to listen to them Talk about there season and watch the change in their attitudes as they began to boost each others confidence and Team sprit. I told them that we would throw out the fancy zone defenses, Get back to the basics, Match up and play tough man to man defense and to push the ball at every opportunity. Milford came out in the third period and took command with an 18 to 7 run. I was extremely impressed at how the team looked at that 3 point deficit. They reacted to the deficit, almost with a sense of urgency but without panic. They came out Motivated, Focused and Confident and played there best third quarter, defensively and offensively, off the season. Great job Guys and don’t forget to bring that same Intensity to the Final!
