Track Meet #3 @ University of Maine at Orono - 5-23-2011

The Eastern Maine Middle School Track season ends each year with the Almquist Invitational Track meet. Each of the students from 5th-8th grade must earn a place in the Invitational by meeting minimum “soft standards” for event times and must be within the top two fastest times for his or her team. We had 9 of our new team members earn a spot in the Invitational in our very first year.

Ian Gerrish: 55 meter hurdles, 100 meter dash

Jonathan Spencer: 1600 m, 800 m

Kassidy Dill: 1600 m, 800 m

Corinne Saucier: 400 m dash, 800 m

Amber Westley: 50 m dash, 100 m dash

Alexis Carey: 200 m dash

Taylor Voteur: 100 m dash, 200 m dash

Brittany King: 50 m dash

Kelsee Steele: 50 m dash, 100 m dash

All the runners that participated put forth a great effort and ended their races near the middle of the pack. Earning a spot in the top half of the 5th-8th grade pack is pretty impressive for a qualifying group made up of primarily 5th and 6th grade runners. We have some great talent coming up. Hopefully, many more students will join our team next year. Thanks to some great kids and a great first season.
