The Cross Country Season Ends on High Note!
From the very first practice the Lewis Libby Cross Country Team has worked to display the BEST sportsmanship in the league. The criteria for sportsmanship is:
1. general sportsmanship of coach and runners,
2. conduct of runners while walking the course,
3. conduct at the starting line and during the race,
4. conduct during the awards,
5. the condition of the area where teams were stationed.
Each week the teams rated the other competing teams.
On October 21 at Lincoln there were 132 girls and 123 boys competing from twelve schools. All runners completing the race were awarded neon yellow "Finisher" ribbons if they did not place in the top 60. Because of the large meet individual scores were not immediately available.
Runners waited with anticipation hoping that even though they didn't earn one of the top 4 trophies for team scores, that they would've earned one of the two Sportsmanship Awards. Sure enough our hard work paid off. J. Leonard and Lewis Libby Teams won. Congratulations for an AWESOME win!
