Game #1 Caravel @ Milford (11/17/09

Game Score: Caravel 68 Milford 12

I think the game versus Caravel went great despite the score ending up 60-12.  Both teams displayed good sportsmanship and the game moved along smoothly.  All the kids on both teams had equal playing time.  The Coach from Caravel did a great job and was very respectful and positive.  I was impressed by the Referees keeping the game moving and not calling many fouls.   I think that our team will get better as the season moves along and the kids become more experienced with basketball.   We need to work on our defense and offense to be able to compete at this level.  I hope the next time we play Caravel we can keep their score in the thirties.  Our kids maintained a great attitude despite the loss.     

Game #2 Milford @ Glenburn (11/19/09)

Game Score: Glenburn 58 Milford 25

Our team played better in their second game losing to Glenburn 58-25.  We started the game well, being down 10 to 8 after the first quarter. I believe that our team has a lack of bench depth and it makes it tough to stay in the games.  The Glenburn Team played well, but was a little over aggressive at times. I thought it was a great game from start to finish.  I gave equal playing time to all my players on the team.  

Game #3 Hermon @ Milford

Game Score: Hermon 43 Milford 28 (12/2/09)

Our 3rd game of the season was against Hermon.  We had only 7 players dress for the game.  Andre Miller and Tyler Brown led our team in scoring with 10 points each followed by Zack Libby with 4 points, Ian Gerrish with 2 points and Ricky Doane with 2 points.  Our team played hard the whole game but fell in the end 43 to 28.  It was a great game despite the defeat.  We look forward to the rematch next month. 

Game #4 Holbrook @ Milford (12/7/09)

Game Score: Holbrook 42 Milford 39

We played our best all around game versus Holbrook.  Unfortunately we lost the game 42-39.  This was a back and forth game with many different lead changes and was competitive until the end.  Andre Miller led the team in scoring with 15 points.  Andre Miller is becoming a strong leader on the court and with more focus he will be hard to stop by opposing teams in the future.

Game #5 Milford @ Orrington (12/8/09)

Game Score: Milford 36 Orrington 22

Finally the B-Boys Team have ended their losing streak with a solid 36 to 22 win over Orrington.  The game started out with Orrington jumping out to a 6 to 0 lead.  Milford fought back and our team was down 16 to 14 at halftime.  In the second half our offensive attack and defensive pressure allowed us to take control of the game.  We took the lead in the third quarter and held it for the rest of the game.  In the second half we outscored Orrington 22 to 6.  Hopefully we can ride the momentum from this game and carry it for the rest of the season.  Great win for our school!!!

Game #6 Orono @ Milford (12/10/09)

Game Score: Milford 27 Orono 20

Milford achieved its second win of the season against Orono 27-20.  Our team came out in the first half and outscored Orono in dominating fashion 23 to 7.  In the second half of the game we only scored 4 points but it was enough to hold on to the win.  We have now played all the teams in our league and look forward to playing them again in the second half.  Our current record is 2 wins 4 losses.

Game #7 Milford @ Caravel (1/4/10)

Game Score: Caravel 58 Milford 14

Our first game back from vacation we had a rematch against Caravel.  Caravel had our number in this game and beat us 58 to 14.  We could not get our offense game going and were dominated from the beginning.  The team hopes to get another chance against Caravel in the playoff.  Our leading scorer was Ian Cribbin with 6 points. 

Game #8 Glenburn @ Milford (1/5/10)

Game Score: Glenburn 40 Milford 36

Our second game against Glenburn was much closer then the first time we played them.  Glenburn defeated us 40-36.  We held strong through out the game keeping the score tight until the end.  Our leading scorer was Zach Libby with 11 points.

Game #9 Milford @ Hermon (1/7/10)

Game Score: Hermon 56 Milford 21

The Milford @ Hermon game was not a close game.  We were defeated 56 to 21.  Even in a defeat like this it was a good opportunity to give more playing time to our bench players.  With more experience we should do better down the stretch. Our team still can compete with these schools despite this 35 point loss.

Game #10 Milford @ Holbrook (1/12/10)

Game Score: Holbrook 54 Milford 31

The second game against Holbrook was a game that frustration set in with our players.  It was a close game at halftime where we trailed 20 to 19.  In the second half Holbrook out scored us 34 to 12.  We lost the game 54 to 31.    

Game #11 Orrington @ Milford

Game Score: Milford 29 Orrington 20

Our second game against Orrington was similar to our first matchup with them.  We dominated the game from the beginning out scoring Orrington 8 to 1 in the First Quarter.  We kept up our defenses intensity up and led 16 to 6 at halftime and 22 to 7 at the end of three.  We finished the game with a strong bench attack and won the game 29 to 20.  Andre Miller led our team in scoring with 13 points.

Game #12 Milford @ Orono (1/19/2010)

Game Score: Orono 27 Milford 16

Orono got its first win of the season beating us 27-16.  Our team played flat most of the game and could not get any momentum in the offensive game.  This was the last game of our regular season.  Our record is 3-9.

Game #13 Milford @ Glenburn (Quarterfinal Playoff Game)

Game Score: Milford 41 Glenburn 39

We entered the playoffs as the 5th seeded team and we were matched up against #4 Glenburn.  We played Glenburn with great intensity and scored point for point with them.  After the 1st Quarter we were down 8 to 7.  In 2nd Quarter Glenburn held the lead 19 to 18.    In the third Quarter we took the lead at 28 to 27.  In the 4th Quarter the game was tied 39 to 39 with about 10 seconds on the clock.  Andre Miller drove the ball down the court and made a 2 point shot with time expiring to win the game 41 to 39.  This game had great defensive performances by Ian Cribbin and Alex Hinkley and great offensive performances by Zach Libby and Andre Miller.  Our three scorers were Zach Libby 20 points, Andre Miller 19 points, and Ian Cribbin 2 points.

Game #14 Milford @ Hermon (Semifinal Playoff Game)

Game Score: Hermon 46 Milford 34

The semi finals of the playoffs we were matched up against #1 Hermon.  Our team played Hermon tough all game.  The game was tied at 9 to 9 after the 1st Quarter.  In the 2nd Quarter Hermon pulled ahead and lead 19 to 15.  We matched points with them in the 3rd Quarter and they lead 31 to 27.  I think fatigue hit us in the 4th Quarter and Hermon outscored us 15 to 7.  Hermon won the game 46 to 34 and ended our season.  The biggest problem we had against Hermon is we did not make our fouls shots going 6 for 31 in the game from the line. 

Despite our loss our team had an excellent season.  We finished with a 4-10 record and we were one game short of making the championship game.  Other teams and their coaches are realizing that Milford can compete and win in this league.  If players stay committed to practicing and working on there skills Milford could be a powerhouse in basketball in the future.  I thank the players, the parents, the cheerleaders, the fans, and the school for all your support in making the season successful.  Thank You, Coach Kinley
