11/30/2010 - Game #1: Milford @ Glenburn

Game Score: Glenburn 45 Milford 23

The Milford Lady Wildcats basketball team traveled to Glenburn for their first game Tuesday night. While the score was not what the girls wanted(a 45-23 defeat), their were some positives the girls took away from the game. After a rocky first quarter the girls came out in the second quarter and outscored their opponent. They played excellent zone defense, and the rebounding on the defensive end was very efficient. The Wildcats were led by Brittany Cousins(12 pts), Bailey DePaola(4pts), Emily LeClair (3 pts), Vicky Goodwin(2 pts), and Jordyn Lee (2pts). The girls will look to get back on track at Holbrook on thursday. The girls play first.

12/2/2010 - Game #2: Milford @ Holbrook

Game Score: Holbrook 40 Milford 16

On Thursday the Milford Lady Wildcats traveled to Holbrook for their second game of the season. The girls were looking for a bounce back game after Tuesdays loss to Glenburn. However, they ran into a very tall and talented Holbrook team. The girls had trouble boxing out and this led to many second and third chance opportunities for the opponent. When all was said and done the girls fell 40-16. Brittany Cousins was the teams leading scorer with 9 pts. Bailey DePaola and Vicky Goodwin also contributed on offense with 3 and 4 points respectively.

The girls have a bye next Tuesday so they will look to have 4 solid days of practice before resuming their season against Orrington Thursday at home. The Girls will have pictures taken at 2:45 and will play 2nd after the boys.

12/9/2010 - Game #3: Orrington @ Milford

Game Score: Orrington 29 Milford 25

The Milford Lady Wildcats came up just short of attaining their first win of the season against Orrington today. After a slow start the girls cameout firing on all cylinders and climbed back into the game.The game was very competitive and after the 3rd quarter the score was tied at 23. The 4th quarter proved to be the difference maker as the girls couldn't get their shots to fall. The final score was 29-25 in favor of Orrington.

The Lady Wildcats scorers are as follows: Bailey DePaola(10pts), Brittany Cousins(9pts), Vicky Goodwin(4pts), and Jordyn Lee(2pts). Kassidy Dill and Emily LeClair also had a solid games, contributing with solid defensive efforts. The girls will look to get their first win of the season when they take on Bangor Christian at home on Tuesday. The girls will play first at 3:30.

12/14/2010 - Game #4: Bangor Christian @ Milford

Game Score: Milford 35 Bangor Christian 21

The girls won their first game of the season on Tuesday against Bangor Christian 35-21. All of the girls saw a lot of court time and really worked well together. We had 6 different girls contribute points. They are as follows: Brittany Cousins (18pts), Bailey DePaola (6pts), Vicky Goodwin (4pts), Emily LeClair(3pts), Natalie St. Louis (2pts) and Kassidy Dill (2pts). The girls will look to build on this win with a game at home today against Caravel. The girls play first at 3:30.

12/16/2010 - Game #5: Caravel @ Milford

Game Score: Orrington 38 Milford 22

The Lady Wildcats fell to Caravel on thursday by a score of 38-22. The girls battled all game but early foul trouble quickly led to the girls having to play catch up all game. The Lady Wildcats received contributions offensively from: Vicky Goodwin(8pts); Brittany Cousins, Kassidy Dill and Bailey DePaola(4pts a piece), and Natalie St. Louis(2pts). Emily LeClair had a strong game on the glass grabbing 15 boards and limiting the opposing teams big man to minimal points. The Girls have a home game against Winterport on Tuesday at home. They will look to go into the break on a high note. The girls will play second.

12/21/2010 - Game #6: Winterport @ Milford

Game Score: Winterport 53 Milford 21

The Lady Wildcats Basketball team lost to a very strong Winterport team on Tuesday night. While the final score (53-21), indicatively shows a lop sided score, the girls did do many positive things. After a rough first half(Losing 24-6) the girls realized they needed to step up their game play, and came out of the locker room intent on getting back in the game. They did this by winning the quarter, at one point even cutting the defecit to 9 points.

The following girls contributed offensively: Brittany Cousins(8pts), Vicky Goodwin(5pts), Bailey DePaola(4pts), Jordyn Lee(2pts) and Kassidy Dill(2pts).

The girls go into the break after completing the first half of the season. They will resume play January 4th at home in a rematch against a very strong Holbrook team. The girls will play second.

1/4/2011 - Game #7: Holbrook @ Milford

Game Score: Holbrook 33 Milford 30

The Milford Lady Wildcats came out of Christmas break with the task of playing a very tough Holbrook team. Playing their best game of the season the girls came up just short (a 33-30 loss). After going into the half down 17-12, the girls had a rough third quarter and found themselves down 30-14 entering the 4th. The girls never got down though and continuued to fight on both ends of the court. By pressing throughout the 4th quarter and playing excellent defense, the girls were able to create some turnovers and get themselves back in the game with a few minutes left to play. While the girls didn't get the win, they outscored Holbrook 16-3 in the 4th. This was their highest scoring quarter of the season. Hopefully, this effort can be built upon Thursday when the girls travel to Orono. The girls will play first at 3:30.

1/6/2011 - Game #8: Milford @ Orono

Game Score: Orono 33 Milford 24

The Lady Wildcats lost a close game to the Orono Red Riots on Tuesday. After playing behind by double digits for most of the game the girls made an exciting run in the 4th quarter by stepping up their defensive pressure, and were able to cut the deficit to three points with a little over 2 minutes remaining. However Orono regrouped and finished the game on a 6-0 run, finalizing the score at 33-24 in their favor.

The girls who contributed points in the game are as follows: Bailey DePaola(11 pts), Vicky Goodwin(4pts), Brittany Cousins (3pts), Emily LeClair (2pts), Jordyn Lee (2pts) and Morgen Leighton (2pts).

1/11/2011 - Game #9: Milford @ Hermon

Game Score: Hermon 31 Milford 14

The girls traveled to Hermon today and lost a tough one 31-14. The ball just didn't seem to want to go in the hoop for us. While the girls played excellent defense throughout the first half, they found themselves trailing 13-4 at the break. Hermon would maintain a big lead throughout the 3rd quarter and while the girls made some good plays in the 4th they weren't able to climb back in this game like they did earlier in the week at Orono.

The box score is as follows: Brittany Cousins (6pts), Vicky Goodwin (5pts) and Bailey DePaola (3pts). The girls will play again next Tuesday at home against Glenburn.

1/13/2011 - Game #10: Glenburn @ Milford

Game Score: Glenburn 38 Milford 23

The Lady Wildcats took on Glenburn in a rematch from their first game of the year. The girls played good basketball but early foul trouble played a major role in the teams eventual loss. There were many positives to take from this game. Their rebounding improved, as well as their press break. They forced numerous turnovers off of their own press which led to many quality scoring opportunities. The girls have a bye next Tuesday, so they will resume play at Orrington next thursday before closing out their regular season at Bangor Christian.

1/20/2011 - Game #11: Milford @ Orrington

Game Score: Milford 42 Orrington 30

The Milford Lady Wildcats started the stretch run of their season today with a very impressive win over an Orrington team that had beat them earlier in the season. After going into the half down 20-14, the girls went into halftime knowing they needed to make some key adjutments in the 2nd half. The girls reestablished themselves in the game by executing well down low on offense and using the press to create turnovers. By the time the 3rd quater was over the girls had taken a 1pt
lead(29-28). Building off the previous quarter the team was able to put the game away, outscoring their opponent by a score of 13-2 resulting in a final score of MIlford 42 Orrington 30.

There were many key contributions from everyone on the team tonight, and I was very pleased to see them step up and play a great game. This is now the stretch run before the tournament in February and it be great to enter the tournament on a high note. The girls will play their last regular season game at Bangor Christian next Tuesday.

1/25/2011 - Game #12: Bangor Christian @ Milford

Game Score: Milford 38 Bangor Christian 24

The Milford Lady Wildcats finished out the regular season with a victory over a very energized Bangor Christian team. The game remained close throughout the first 3 quarters before the Wildcats finally pulled away in the 4th. Brittany Cousins led all scorers with 12 points. With the game being the last of the regular season all of the girls got lots of playing time, and contributed in different ways to the win. The girls will look to continue their two game winning streak when they host Bangor Christian in a prelimary game next Wednesday at home for the last seed in the B bracket tournament. The girls will play at 3:30pm.

2/1/2011 - Game #13: Preliminary Game - Milford vs. Bangor Christian

Game Score: Milford 42 Bangor Christian 27

On Thursday night the Milford Lady Wildcats hosted the Bangor Christian Patriots in a preliminary game for the #4 seed in the "B" bracket of the tournament. After playing a back and forth game against Bangor Christian a week ago the Wildcats looked to come out of the gate and gain control of the game. They did just that by jumping out to a 12-2 lead after the first and a 26-6 lead going into the half. The girls pressed and moved the ball on offense very well. The girls would continue their good play into the second half and would end up winning the game 42-27.

The girls will now play Orono in a semifinal game on Saturday at 11:30. The tournament will be played at Hermon High School.
