April 27th, 2010, Game #1: Milford @ Glenburn
Game Score: Glenburn 10 Milford 5
Milford traveled to Glenburn on Tuesday for their first game of the season. The Wildcats jumped on top of the home team in the first inning. RT Higgins doubled with one out, moved to 3rd on a ground out by Andre Miller and scored on a pass ball. The 1-0 lead was short lived as Glenburn pushed 5 runs across the plate in the bottom half of the inning. Dylan Miles allowed only 2 earned runs as Milford committed 2 errors in the inning. Milford pulled within 1 in the top of the 3rd as they scored 3 runs. With 2 outs, Miles stole both second and third. Higgins then struck out but the Glenburn catcher could not hold onto the ball. This allowed Miles to score as Higgins beat the throw to 1st. Miller followed with a single and with an error by the right fielder, the Wildcats had runners on second and third. Ethan Harris stepped up and roped a single, plating both runners. With the score now 5-4, Milford again struggled through a tough inning. Glenburn loaded the bases with one out with the help of a hit batter and a walk. Glenburn’s leadoff hitter than laced what appeared to be a single to center, but Alston made a heads up play by throwing to Tyler Brown at second to get a force out. Following a couple of single’s, Miles struck out the last batter of the inning looking. Milford gave up two more runs in the bottom of the 5th on two walks a single and a passed ball. In their last at bat, Milford attempted to rally for the win. Miller led off and was hit by a pitch and was then forced out at second. Harris now on first took second when Matt Blankenship was hit by a pitch. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Harris stole third and scored on a error by the third baseman. Blankenship took second on the play. That would be then end of the rally as the final two Milford batters failed to reach safely.
April 29th, 2010, Game #2: Hermon @ Milford

Milford hosted a very strong Hermon team on Thursday under cold, windy conditions. The Wildcats were able to record the first two outs of the game as RT Higgins struck out the first two batters he faced. After a walk and a single, it looked as if Hermon would strand 2 runners in the top of the first but a pop-up to the left side of the infield, fell between three players. Hermon was able to push three more runs in the top of the second to take a 6-0 lead. The Wildcats had runners on first and third after Tyler Brown and Kareem Stokes singled but were unable to capitalize. The Hawks then erupted for 8 runs in the third as Milford committed some fielding mistakes. Though down 14-0, Milford fought hard over the next 2 innings. Manuel Calix pitched in his first ever game. He allowed 3 runs while striking out 3. RT Higgins struck out 4 Hawks batters. Offensively, the Wildcats were lead by Stokes who collected 2 hits on the night.
May 6th, 2010, Game #3 Milford @ Holbrook
Game Score: Holbrook 16 Milford 6
The Wildcats traveled to Holden to take on Holbrook on Thursday. Milford played hard and had a 6-4 lead through 3.5 innings. Unfortunately, the bottom of the 4th proved too dificult for the shorthanded Wildcats as they gave up 10 runs, enroute to a 16-6 defeat. Holbrook opened up the scoring on walk, a double and a sacrifice fly before Dylan Miles shut them down. Milford gave up two more runs in the bottom of the second to make the score 4-0. The Wildcats came alive in the top of the third inning. Milford loaded the bases on walks to Zac Gibbins, Matt Blankenship and Dylan Miles to start the inning. Zac Libby then walked to make the score 4-1. Following a pop-up, Ethan Harris delivered a one-out, 2RBI single to right-center field. The bases were loaded again as Kareem Stokes reached on a walk. Ricky Doane and Ian Gerrish both walked to make the score 5-4 in favor of the visiting team. Another walk by Gibbins made it 6-4. With two outs, Miles looked to push the lead to three as he laced a would be single to center. However, the runner was late in moving up as the Holbrook center fielder quicky got the ball into the second baseman for the final out of the inning. Up 6-4 going into the home half of the fourth, the wheels fell off as Holdbrook scored 10 times. Milford refused to quit down eight as the first two batters reached via walks to begin the fifth inning. Unfortunately the next the batters struck out. Milford looked to have one more chance in the sixth but Holbrook was able to squeak 2 runs across in the bottom of the fifth ending the game via the 10-run rule.
May 11th, 2010, Game #4 Milford @ Orono
Game Score: Orono 15 Milford 5
Milford traveled to Orono on Tuesday and jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top half of the first. Dylan Miles singled to start the game and moved to second on a passed ball. Kareem Stokes then singled putting runners on the corners. Stokes was able to move up to second base before RT Higgins hit a 2 RBI single. Following a ground out, Zac Libby reached on an error, plating Higgins. Orono made it 3-1 after one as Miles struck out the side in the bottom of the first. Orono took a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the second without the benefit of a hit in the inning. Milford looked to tie the game up or take the lead in the top of the third. Ethan Harris reached on a error. On a perfectly executed bunt and run, Harris was able to move to third on an error while Libby beat the throw to first for a hit. Libby then took second base on an uncontested steal. Ian Gerrish then laced a 2 RBI single, making the score 6-5. Following a walk, Milford had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs. Manuel Calix laid down a perfect bunt for a would be hit but the runner tried to score from third but was tagged out at the plate. Milford's rally came up short as the next two batters were unable to reach safely. The wheels came of in the bottom of the third as Orono was able to plate 7 runners, making the score 13-5. Orono scored 2 more in the top of the fourth, taking a 15-5 lead. Milford was able to load the bases in their last at bat with only one out. However they were not able to score as the last two batters failed to get on base. Milford was lead by Miles and Gerrish on offense with 2 hits. Higgins and Gerrish both had 2 RBI each. Stokes and Libby also singled. Player/manager Will Martin also saw his first field action of the season. Milford hopes to get that elusive first win when at home on Thursday.
May 13th, 2010, Game #5 Orrington @ Milford

Milford hosted Orrington Thursday and had their roughest game of the year. The Wildcats had trouble fielding, committing 12 errors and giving up 10 unearned runs. The Wildcats played hard throughout and kept up a good spirit in the field while supporting pitchers RT Higgins and Dylan Miles. In the dugout they were just as loud when on offense. Offensively, Milford was lead by Andre Miller who had one hit, reached on an error and scored 2 runs. Alston also stole 3 bases. Higgins chipped in with 2 RBI's while hitting the ball to the right side of the field with a runner on third twice.
May 18th, 2010, Game #6 Winterport @ Milford
Game Score: Milford 12 Winterport 11
Milford played host to Winterport on Tuesday and for those lucky enough to be in attendance they witnessed an exciting, high scoring game that came down to the last inning. The teams combined to score 23 runs and 18 hits, including 2 triples. When the dust was settled, the Wildcats posted their first victory in nearly 3 full seasons. "I can not be any happier for these kids", said Coach Neely before having the water jug dumped over his head. Milford's first win did not come easy. Winterport jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. A one out walk, a single and a wild pitch led to both runs before Dylan Miles struck out the last 2 batters of the inning. In the home half of the first, Andre Miller led off with a single and moved to second on a perfect sacrifice bunt by Tyler Brown. Miles walked to put runners on first and second. However, a base running error and a ground out put an end to the inning without Milford scoring a run. In the top of the second, Winterport extended their lead to 6-0 on five walks and two hits.
It could have been worse, except Ethan Harris scrambled after a wild pitch and tossed the ball to Miles who was able to tag out a Winterport runner a home. Down 6-0, Milford's RT Higgins and Kareem Stokes both singled to start the inning. Zac Libby then double to score Higgins. Ricky Doane then walked to load the bases. After a flyout, Stokes scored on a infield grounder by beating the throw home. With the score 6-2, the Wildcats still had the bases loaded but were down to their final out of the inning following a strike out. Miles singled to plate Libby. Harris then doubled, scoring both Doane and Miller. Higgins then grabbed his second hit of the inning, plating both Miles and Harris to give Milford a 7-6 lead after two innings. The lead was short-lived though. Winterport scored two runs in the top of the third and one run in the fourth, to take a 9-7 lead. In the home half of the fourth, Miles walked to start off the inning. He moved to third on a one out single by Higgins. Higgins moved up to second, uncontested. Stokes then singled to plate Miles and Higgins scored on an RBI groundout by Libby. The game now tied at 9-9, moved to the top of the fifth. Winterport regained the lead 10-9. With only one out and the bases loaded, they looked poised to blow the game open. Higgins replaced Miles on the mound and was able to get the first batter to ground to short. The Winterport runner was able to beat the throw home, extending the lead to 11-9. With the bases still loaded, the next batter hit a line drive to Libby at third. Libby was able to make the catch and then stepped on the bag to double off the runner at third, ending the inning.
Down two in the home half of the inning with two outs, Milford started to rally. Ian Gerrish reached on an error. Miles followed with a single. Harris then walked to load the bases. RT Higgins stepped to the plate and crushed a line drive deep down the third base line. Gerrish, Miles and Harris all scored as Higgins raced to third with a triple. Milford now had a 12-11 lead going into the top half of the sixth. After striking out the first batter of the inning, Higgins walked the next batter. The runner moved up to second. A ground ball was hit to Libby at third. With the runner bearing down on him from second, he was unable to come up with the ball. Winterport now had runners on the corners with one out. Milford allowed the runner at first to move up to second. Higgins then struck out the last two batters of the inning to give Milford a hard fought 12-11 victory.
May 20th, 2010, Game #7 Milford @ Bangor Christian
Game Score: Bangor Christian 14 Milford 4
The Patriots were able to score twice in the bottom of the first and then exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the second. Miller walked to start the third inning and scored on a Dylan Miles single. Miles then scored on a wild pitch as Milford cut the lead to 8-3. Down 10-3 going into the fourth, Milford received back to back doubles from Miles and Harris.
As the score stood 10-4, BC was able to plate 4 runners in the bottom of the fifth closing out the game. The Wildcats look to rebound in the final game of the season Tuesday against Caravel. Playing in their final games will be Manuel Calix, Ethan Harris, RT Higgins and Dylan Miles.
May 25th, 2010, Game #8 Caravel @ Milford
Game Score: Milford 6 Caravel 5
Milford hosted Caravel on Tuesday in the final game of the season. This was also the final game for Manuel Calix, Ethan Harris, RT Higgins and Dylan Miles in a Wildcat uniform. The game turned into a barn burner on this hot, humid day.
Caravel opened the game with the first two batters reaching via walks. The Bobcats then scored 3 runs on a single and an error cleared the bases. Down 3-0 with no outs, Dylan Miles settled down striking out two and getting the third out on a ground ball.
Milford came back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Andre Alston walked and stole second. Tyler Brown then laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move Alston to third. Miles walked and moved to second on a passed ball. RT Higgins then singled in Alston, while Miles scored on an error by the Caravel right fielder.
Down 3-2, Miles set down the Bobcats 1-2-3 in the top of the second. In the bottom of the inning with two out, Manuel Calix started a rally after being hit by a pitch. Calix stole second and moved to third on an error. After Alston walked, he stole second. Calix was able to take home on the throw, knotting the score at 3-3.
Both teams were kept score less in the third and fourth innings. In the top of the fifth, the Bobcats on a walk and a single.
Down 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Alston walked with one out. He took second on a passed ball and moved to third on a two-out single by Miles. Alston scored on a failed pick off attempt of Miles, who moved to second on the play. Miles then stole third and scored on a wild pitch to give Milford a 5-4 lead.
The lead was short lived though. A lead off walk followed by a base hit to left field. The ball took a wicked hop past Zac Gibbins. Alston was moving over to back up the play ran the ball down. Milford then executed a perfect relay from Alston to Libby to Higgins who tagged the runner out at third. After another single, Miles enticed the last two batters into ground balls back to the pitcher to end the inning.
Milford had a chance to win the game in the home half of the sixth as they had runners on first and third with two outs. The Wildcats could not end the game as the final batter of the inning struck out.
In the top of the seventh, Caravel loaded the bases with no outs. Miles got the first out on a strike out. Then on a suicide squeeze, Miles throw beat the runner to the plate as Harris touched home for a force out. The bases were still loaded with two outs. Miles got the final out of the inning on a pop out along the first base line.
The stage was now set for more Wildcats heroics. Alston lead off with a single. After moving to second, he beat the throw to third on Tyler Brown’s grounder. Brown took first on the fielder’s choice. The Bobcats then made a tactical move and intentionally walked Miles to load the bases hoping for a force out at home. Ethan Harris then hit a sac fly to left center on a 2-2 count to score Alston and give the Wildcats their second win of the season.
