School Start Times
There has been some confusion about the actual time that school starts and when a student is considered tardy. Students should not arrive on the school grounds until 7:15. Any students who arrive before that time must wait outside unsupervised. At 7:15, the principals go outside to monitor the early arrivals. Students will remain outside unless it is raining or the wind chill is below 10o. Please be sure your child is dressed for the weather conditions. At 7:30, students may enter the building. Students in grades 5-8 report directly to their classrooms. Any child in grades 5-8 who arrives after 7:30 is tardy. Students in grades K-2 have outside recess from 7:30-7:50. Third and fourth graders have inside recess in the cafeteria from 7:30-7:50. Any student in grades K-4 who arrives after 7:50 is tardy.

No School Notification

The superintendent of Union #90 makes the decision when to cancel school because of inclement weather. He contacts the local television and radio stations to post the announcement.
We encourage students and parents to monitor these announcements first thing in the morning whenever the weather is stormy. Every attempt will also be made to post the no school announcements in the News and Events box on the front page of the Lewis Libby website. However, parents should use their local television and radio as the primary source for school closures.
It may also be necessary to send children home at irregular times during the day. When this happens some parents may not be home. In order that children may be safely sheltered and supervised, parents should make standing arrangements for their children to go to an alternative location. Parents should inform their children of this location and note it on the emergency form at the beginning of the school year. If there are any changes in this information during the school year, please notify the school immediately. If you change your child’s end of the day plans please notify the school in writing of this change, even if the change is only for one day. Remember to update your child’s emergency forms even if the change is for a short period of time. For example, if your neighbor is the emergency contact for your child and that neighbor is going on vacation for a week, you should have another person to contact in their absence.
